What the plugin does

Auto-detection

Recognizes "John 3:16", "Jo 3.16", "Salmos 23", ranges like "Rom 8:28-30" — in PT, EN and ES, with accents and abbreviations.

Hover tooltips

Every reference shows the actual verse text on hover, fetched from the Midvash API and cached for performance.

35+ Bible versions

Pick the default version per site — NVT, NVI, NLT, KJV, RVR1960 and 30+ more across 3 languages.

Customizable styling

Custom link color, underline style, open in new tab, dark mode support — no CSS skills needed.

Install in under a minute

No configuration needed. Optional settings under Settings → Midvash.

    Click the download button above to grab the latest ZIP.

  2. Upload

    In WordPress admin go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, install.

  3. Activate

    Activate the plugin. Default settings work out of the box.

  4. Done

    Open any post with a Bible reference and hover. That's it — no API key, no signup.

Supported reference formats

The parser is forgiving — accents, abbreviations, ranges, alternative separators all work.

All verse content comes from api.midvash.com — a free, public, edge-cached REST API for the Bible. No keys, no rate limits beyond fair use, sub-50ms responses worldwide.
